2002 was an eventful year for our leader, Bernie Whiteford. On May, 16, 2002 she was nominated for the YWCA'S Woman of Distinction Award in the Health and Wellness category. Ms. Whiteford says she was honoured to have been a finalist in such a brilliant and honourable celebration for women.

On November 8, 2002 Bernie was a proud recipient of the Queen's Golden Jubilee Commemorative Medal for her outstanding community work in Vancouver 's downtown eastside. MP Libby Davies and MLA Jenny Kwan presented the award.

At Helping Spirit Lodge Society it is important to honour and acknowledge everyone who has contributed to building a safer and healthier community. Helping Spirit Lodge Society acknowledges and gives appreciation to the following persons who have worked with Helping Spirit Lodge Society.

On September 2002 Helping Spirit Lodge Society awarded some very special members for their loyalty and steadfastness in building a sound foundation for Helping Spirit Lodge Society.
